About the Ashram
The Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre Thailand is part of the international Sivananda Yoga Vedanta tradition founded by Swami Vishnudevananda, a direct disciple of Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh.

Our Lineage

A revered saint of modern times, Swami Sivananda founded the Divine Life Society in Rishikesh in 1936 after serving as a doctor and renouncing worldly life. He taught the Yoga of Synthesis, bringing together karma, bhakti, raja, and jnana yoga, summarised as “Serve, love, give, purify, meditate, realise.” Author of over 300 books, his teachings spread worldwide, laying the foundation for the Sivananda tradition.

A direct disciple of Swami Sivananda, Swami Vishnudevananda was sent to the West in 1957 to share yoga. He established the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres in 1959 and helped spread classical yoga globally. He introduced yoga teacher trainings and the concept of yoga vacations, and was also a peace activist. His work continues through a worldwide network of centres and ashrams.
